The philosophical, epistemological, and methodological implications of Complexity Theory have occasioned great interest in the international scholarly community. These implications not only help us see the world in a different way; their practical ramifications also lead us to deal with the world in a specific manner.

The Cathedra of Complexity Studies of Havana’s Instituto de Filosofia was created to promote reflection and debate on these topics. The Chair is also charged with organizing, carrying out, and sponsoring activities that develop this important and contemporary field of study within the Cuban scientific community. These activities include but are not limited to bimonthly meetings, biennial international seminars, biennial national workshops, post-graduate courses, etc.

The Cathedra currently has 86 members.
